Welcome to the brand new My Homecare Companion! • ¡Bienvenido al nuevo My Homecare Companion!
Many Oregon Home Care Commission (OHCC) classes are offered online through Zoom. This page explains how to register, prepare for class, participate successfully, and make sure your attendance is recorded.
Online course requirements can vary. Always review the course information in PACE and carefully read the confirmation emails and instructions sent for your specific class.
This guidance applies to online classes offered through OHCC. Carewell orientation, New Worker Core training, and continuing education may follow different requirements.
Before You Register
Before selecting an online class:
✓ Make sure you can sign in to your PACE account.
✓ Confirm that the course is available to your provider type: Homecare Worker (HCW), Personal Support Worker (PSW), or Personal Care Attendant (PCA).
✓ Review the course date, start and end times, language, prerequisites, and attendance requirements.
✓ Check whether the class is eligible for a training stipend. Registration or attendance does not automatically guarantee payment.
✓ Use an email address you check regularly. Class confirmations, Zoom information, course materials, and schedule changes may be sent by email.
Some courses have prerequisites or are limited to providers who meet particular eligibility requirements. Read the complete course description in PACE before registering.
How to Register for an Online Class
Class space is limited. OHCC does not accept walk-ins or unregistered participants for online or in-person classes.
Registration has two steps:
Select the class you want to take.
Open the email you receive and follow its link to complete the registration information.
Completing the second step is also how you receive the link for your online class.
Each Zoom link is individualized. Do not share your link. Only one participant may join with each link.
Prepare for Your Online Class
Before the day of class:
✓ Read every confirmation email and course instruction carefully.
✓ Locate the Zoom link and keep it somewhere you can easily access.
✓ Check whether you must download or print any course materials.
✓ Use a device with a working camera, microphone, speaker, and reliable internet connection.
✓ Install or update Zoom and test your camera and audio before class.
✓ Plan to join from a quiet, well-lit location where you can participate without interruptions.
✓ Arrange your schedule so you can attend the entire class.
Do not share your individual class link with another person. Each provider must register separately through PACE so OHCC can correctly identify participants and record course completion.
The instructions for your particular course control. Some classes may have additional technology, materials, participation, or attendance requirements.
Joining and Participating in Class
Cameras are required to remain on, and the learner must be visibly present during class. OHCC uses this requirement to confirm attendance and participation.
Learners may not engage in other activities while attending class.
You must not drive while attending an online class. There are no exceptions. Anyone who drives during class will be removed, may not return that day, will not receive attendance credit, and may have their stipend affected.
You should not work for a consumer-employer during class. Claiming payment for provider work while attending training may be considered Medicaid fraud. Arrange coverage or make other accommodations before class.
You may not attend multiple classes at the same time. Participants found attending overlapping classes will be removed, will not receive course credit, and will not receive stipends for those classes.
Participants must be dressed and behave professionally. Treat instructors and other learners respectfully. Unprofessional behavior may result in removal from class, loss of attendance credit, and an affected stipend.
Attendance Credit and Training Stipends
Attendance Credit
Allow OHCC staff 5–7 business days to process your attendance before contacting the office about missing course credit.
Business days do not include weekends or holidays.
Training Stipends
Allow 4–6 weeks after your class ends for OHCC to process an eligible training stipend before contacting the OHCC Training Unit.
To qualify for a stipend:
✓ You must have received payment for state-funded services during the month of the training or during one of the previous three months.
✓ Stipends are paid at your base rate of pay.
✓ Stipend amounts are based on attendance records and paid in 15-minute increments.
✓ You may receive a stipend for each PDC course only once every 12 months, regardless of whether you take it on demand, by webinar, or in person.
Not every course qualifies for a stipend. Review the course information before registering. Course credit and stipend eligibility are separate: completing a class does not necessarily mean that a stipend will be paid.
